The Chilterns Conservation Board, the Government agency set up by statute to control development in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), sets out its objections to Central Bedfordshire Council’s intention to build on the AONB. In its letter, at , to the Council the Board expresses its deep concerns about the route of the proposed M1 A6 Link Road that will pass through the AONB.

The route of the M1 A6 Link Road is controversial as its path has not been open to public consultation for over 10 years. Also Environmental Impact Assessments required by current legislation have not been carried out to determine whether alternative routes to the route proposed would be less damaging to the Chilterns AONB and the general environment North of Luton.
